MY 365 CREATIVE JOURNEY

CREATIVE ART JOURNALING (8)

If you were wondering, I am still working on my 365 art journaling project. Although it has taken me more than 365 days, I’m still determined to get it done. I’ve started using a second journal that I decorated myself. I used envelopes, junk mail and I even did a couple more mixed media art trading cards this time around.

CREATIVE ART JOURNALING (7)

This one looks sort of like a butterfly to me – one of my favorite things.

I was getting a little bored using my journal, so I decided to play around with an envelope. I’m using it as a home for my art trading cards.

CREATIVE ART JOURNALING (6)

I started my 365 Creative Art Journaling Journey almost one year ago. A year ago, I thought I had so much time to finish. To be honest, I’m not even close to finishing my project! So I decided to tweak my initial project and instead of doing something everyday, I’m now making sure that I complete 365 pages of art journaling. That seems to make more sense at this point :).

Here are a few of my most recent pages.

I’m still working on this one.

This will be a mixed media art trading card someday.

MIXED MEDIA ART & CREATIVE ART JOURNALING (5)

The term “mixed media art” is a broad definition that covers many arts and crafts, including collage, assemblage (both 2D and 3D), altered objects, including books and boxes, handmade greeting cards, artist trading cards (ATCs) and tags, art journaling and book making.

The “mixed media” used includes paints, papers and board of all descriptions, glues, buttons, fabrics, found objects, photos, metal bits, fibres, things from nature, inks, pencils, crayons, markers, pastels and polymer clays, to name a few.

The above information was taken from MixedMediaArt.net

I wanted to step away from my usual art journaling pages and do a few mixed media art trading cards (mine are a little smaller than the usual ATC). Basically, I cut out photos and words from magazines and used acrylic paints, crayons, markers, beads, crystal effects and Mod Podge to create these little bite sized cards. The challenge was to create something on a smaller scale. It was easier than I thought. Below are the photos of what I came up with – front and back.

Have you ever tried mixed media art? If so, I would love to see what you’ve created!

I was feeling a little colorful and inspirational when I did these pages. I’m finding that  I really like to draw the faces of women and add colorful backgrounds. I’m not quite sure why. Can you tell that I have an obsession with acrylic paints?

Here are a few more new pages from my art journal.

I’m still working on this one, not sure where to go from here.

I’ve been kind of all over the place with my art journal lately. Still having fun though!

MY 365: MAKE SOMETHING EVERY DAY BLOG FEATURE

If you’ve been following my blog the last couple of months, you know that I am on an art journaling journey for the next year. The inspiration behind this project is a book called 365: A Creative Daily Journal. Today, my first round of journal pages were featured on the 365 blog!
